Headed north for Carter time!

NOTE: We are about two weeks behind in posting our blogs. As things are changing quickly in our country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, please understand that some of our activities and decisions would be different if they happened on the day the blog was actually published.

It takes almost 8 hours to drive from Brinkley, Arkansas to the Kansas City area. That's a full day's drive through some beautiful country-side as we went up and over the hills of Arkansas and Missouri. In our motor home, we would have camped at four or five locations, and it would have taken us weeks to explore this area. But we are in the car on a road trip with a destination today. We pulled into our son and daughter-in-law's drive-way in record time, as we were looking forward to seeing our favorite little wonder!

We've been south for the winter, so we haven't seen this special family since Christmas. Even though we face-time and get pictures and videos on a regular basis, there's nothing like getting real hugs and kisses.

We should apologize right now for way too many pictures of the cutest little 22-month-old we know.

We know this is a travel blog, but we didn't do any traveling once we arrived. We spent all our time at their house. In fact, the four counties surrounding Kansas City were put on lock-down while we were visiting there. So all our pictures are taken close to home in beautiful Lenexa, Kansas.

Just like most of our travel blogs, we will include a wildlife picture. We know that we usually focus on the wildlife, but for some reason we were more interested in taking pictures of the little girl looking at the geese at the park where we walked. You have to look very carefully to see the two Canadian geese in the far right-hand side of the picture below.

We got much closer pictures of Carter tip-toeing to see those geese between the bridge rails.

It's a short walk from their house to one of Lenexa's nice parks, and that was our only outing place while we were visiting. When Carter got tired of walking, but didn't want to ride in her stroller, Grandad fixed the situation by balancing her on top of the stroller. No, we're not spoiling her one bit!

For a week we spent all our time reading children's books . . .

playing kitchen . . .

singing and playing the piano . . .

and we loved it! Of all the wonders that we get to wander, we prefer the wonder of being grandparents the most!
