NOTE: We are about two weeks behind in posting our blogs. As things are changing quickly in our country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, know that some of our activities and decisions would be different if they happened on the day the blog was actually published.
After spending eight days at our son and daughter-in-law's house, we grudgingly headed back down the road towards our motor home in Arkansas. It's tough to leave a granddaughter that looks this cute when she wakes up. We love listening to her sing to her stuffed animals in her crib as she wakes up.
Our car trip was a lovely drive through the foothills of the Ozarks. We chose the slower route that is actually less miles than the faster interstate route. Those slower miles twist and turn through the scenic hills and valleys through the small towns of Missouri and Arkansas. We are finding that gas stations are open on our route, and we are careful to wash our hands and use sanitizer any time we get out of the car. After many hours on the road, we stopped for a meal in Clinton, Arkansas. We ate our drive-through-fast-food meal in the local park. We were glad to see a walking trail along Archie Creek that flows through town. It was a good place to stretch our legs in the middle of our long drive.
It's nice to see that in the middle of a pandemic, spring is still in the air. The white blooms in the park are beautiful against today's bright blue sky.
The cement trail in the park circled into the woods along the creek, and we had a very nice walk. The violets along the trail were as pretty as anything you'd see in a florist shop.
The trail also circled into the small downtown square of Clinton. It was like a ghost town, with signs in most of the front doors.
Most of the signs were carefully worded, typed messages. But the one in the barber shop was the biggest and easiest to read.
It looks like these are the new signs of the time we're living through.
It was nice to get some good exercise before we got back in the car for the last two hours of our trip back to the motor home. After sitting for ten nights in Brinkley, Arkansas, our motor home was ready to roll to our next destination. We're heading towards some RV repairs that we scheduled months ago. When we made that appointment, we had no idea that travel and life would have changed so much in so little time. We must say that we don't like these "new signs of the time" very much!
