It might be Saturday, but Camden is up early this morning to make cinnamon rolls. Denisa is taking pictures and making notes because she has heard how good these rolls are. It's all from scratch, and Camden does everything himself.
Aren't those just perfect rolls of cinnamon goodness? Denisa would normally not take a picture of a recipe before it was baked, but these were just too perfect!
Straight out of the oven, we can report that they were just as good as they looked. Thanks Camden for getting up early to make this special treat! What a way to start a delicious day!
This is going to be another deliciously beautiful day in Newfoundland, and we're starting it with a kayak trip right in their backyard. Their house is situated right on a lake, and they have enough kayaks for Mark and Denisa and all the kids to go for a float.
Camden is not only a cinnamon roll baker, he is also a good baby-sitter and rower. Cooper started out in his kayak as we made our way across the lake.
The water was placid this morning when we took off. Cole got a heavier passenger in his boat, so we took turns paddling our kayak.
The lake was a fun place to kayak this morning. But it provides year-round entertainment. They all have ice skates, as it becomes a huge skating and hockey rink in the winter.
After our kayak trip, we all loaded up in the car to see more of the city of St. John's. We stopped in to see the seals at the aquarium.
While the indoor exhibits are still closed because of Covid, visitors can watch the three seals playing in the tank outside.
This is a great hike that will take you to rugged views high above the Atlantic Ocean.
Mark is pretty excited to find fellow hikers that like scrambling on those rugged rocks. Denisa is content to stay on dry flat ground and take pictures of the rest of these adventurous hikers exploring this coast.
Denisa knows that she can admire this majestic coastline from the trail. What a beautiful place where we are blessed to wander God's wonders!
While we have driven farther to take some great hikes here in Newfoundland, this hike is just a 7 minute drive from their house.

It's not much further to drive to the beach, so they took us there as well.
You have to really like cold water to get into the surf here in the North Atlantic. We were wearing jackets, and getting wet didn't sound very good to us, even though we did chase the waves that were pounding into the beach.
The tide was coming up, and sometimes those waves tried to pin us up against the rock cliffs that edge the rocky beach.
In case you might think that we would be losing weight with all our hiking, we have to brag on our hostess's cooking. Alexia has treated us to gourmet meals over and over, and we certainly appreciate all that delicious cooking. We don't often take food pictures, but we just have to include a photograph of the charcuterie board she laid out one evening. Isn't it beautiful?!?
We started this day with delicious cinnamon rolls, and we finished with lovely tarts. From a local bakery, Alexia picked up a sampler that was almost too pretty to eat. The four tarts were chocolate raspberry, cloudberry, lemon meringue, and pumpkin latte. Cloudberry was new to us. Also called "bakeapple," it's a member of the rose family that produces orange raspberry-like fruit. The fact that it only grows in Arctic regions of the north might explain why we have never experienced it before.
We have certainly been treated to delicious food and delicious scenery in this trip to Newfoundland!
