Every year, Mark makes a map that connects the dots of all the campgrounds where we have stayed in the motor home. It's fun to see the loop of travels at the end of each year. Wouldn't it be interesting to see eight years of our travels in one map?!? We thought so! Mark color-coded the years to show our travels for each of the loops from 2015 through 2022.
So where should we go in 2023? While we have visited all 48 of the lower states, there are definitely some holes in the map above. We see some potential loops, and places that are just begging us to visit. So we decided that our 2023 loop will include driving north across Kansas and Nebraska and into the Badlands and Black Hills of western South Dakota. Next, we plan to make a big loop through Wyoming, avoiding Yellowstone and the Tetons since it will be the height of vacation season. Then we're heading into Colorado, where we've done something that we've never done before. We've booked an entire month in a campground just north of Buena Vista, Colorado. That's a long time for a couple wanderers to stay in one spot, so we're looking for things to keep us busy in August near Buena Vista!
We made a few reservations for the first part of this summer journey, but we'll be winging it for most of the month of July in Wyoming. So we're also looking for any advice on things not to miss in Wyoming and places to camp. Now that we have soaked in a couple months of family time, we're back on the road and ready to wander more of God's wonders!
Buffalo Bill Museum, Cody, WY ; Ima Hotel same town
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! We’ll add it to our list.
DeleteHighline Trail RV in Boulder, WY is a nice laid-back place. There are several hiking trails out of Pinedale (the ‘big’ town down the road). I recommend the Sacred Rim trail. We’ll be there 7/21-8/21.
ReplyDeleteWe weren’t planning to go that far west. But we’ve had one other recommendation to visit Pinedale. We might have to rethink our options. Thanks for the advice!
DeleteHi Denisa and Mark! Our RV travel blog is organized by state, so you could click on Wyoming or Colorado or wherever and maybe get some ideas for your planning. Hope this helps! https://charmingmillers.com/
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed looking at your blog! I’m planning to read it in detail for Wyoming ideas. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBear Tooth Highway is a MUST. But DON"T TAKE THE MOTORHOME up there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea! We'll take a road trip in the pickup.
DeleteCrazy Woman Canyon near Buffalo, Wyoming - stunning drive!
ReplyDeleteThe Crazy Woman suggestion came from Rochelle Greer, not anonymous - LOL
ReplyDeleteI should have known that a crazy woman like you would recommend Crazy Woman Canyon. When I looked for it on the map, I found a couple Amish stores in that area too. Now we're doubly excited about going to Crazy Woman!
