Our Favorite Motor Home Annual Maintenance--Idaho Falls

One of our least favorite things to do each year is take the motor home in for its annual maintenance. It's stressful and expensive and no fun. We've done this five times now, in different parts of the country: Tucson, Arizona; Gaffney, South Carolina; Missoula, Montana; Superior, Wisconsin; and now in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Each time Mark spends time reading reviews and selecting a registered Freightliner shop that is also an Oasis Service Center. That means that they are qualified to work on motor homes, as well as trucks. That led us to Idaho Falls this year. Most of the Oasis centers provide electric hookups for people like us that are living in the motor home that is coming in for service. Denisa votes Idaho Falls as her favorite Freightliner service center so far, with a clean and comfortable waiting area.

This one also had a work station area with free wifi and plug-ins for electronic devices in the waiting area--and free soft drinks too.

We didn't use it, but we're sure the truckers waiting for service appreciate the spacious and clean showers that are also provided here at the service center.

But the two things that sealed Denisa's vote for best all-time Freightliner service center was this commercial-sized washer and dryer available for customers to use for free. We've been boondocking a lot this summer, and we have to hurry to do laundry when we get to a full-hook-up campground stop. We have a small stackable washer and dryer in our motor home, and it takes two loads just to do a set of sheets. Two towels can take hours to get dry. So while waiting today, Denisa washed everything! We left here with all our clothes and linens clean in a fraction of the time it usually takes!

All those perks are nice, but how was the service? We called in advance, but we really didn't have an appointment. But they worked us in on the day that we arrived. The best news is that they did everything that needed to be done, and it was the lowest price we have ever paid for an annual check-up. We have visited shops that added lots of mystery charges and did unnecessary things, so we appreciated their honesty and good service as well. While Denisa rates the waiting area, Mark rates the service as the best we have received. That's right up there with Gaffney, South Carolina, where Freightliners are manufactured.

After a successful motor home check-up we spent the evening doing some shopping in Idaho Falls. We have visited this city two years ago, and Denisa re-read that blog to discover she got a haircut in Idaho Falls. So she went to the same place and got her hair cut again. Let's just say that the motor home maintenance was better than the hair maintenance this time. But we feel like we had a successful stop here in Idaho Falls, and hope to come back here again.
