Beating the Pandemic!

NOTE: We are about two weeks behind in posting our blogs. As things are changing quickly in our country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, please understand that some of our activities and decisions would be different if they happened on the day the blog was actually published.

We're still hanging out near Kansas City, enjoying this crazy pandemic time at our son and daughter-in-law's house, playing with our granddaughter, Carter.

While we were playing all day, our son, Luke, is still working full-time at his pediatric clinic. We still get to see him during the evenings and the weekend, so he slipped into one of our pictures.

Likewise, our daughter-in-law is a physician assistant, that also loves to do projects at home. We snapped a picture of her when Carter was "helping" to put out fresh mulch in the yard.

This hard work means that a girl needs gloves to protect her hands.

A finished job well done deserves a high five!

Just to prove that we also did a little work, Gram took a picture when Carter and Grandad swept the leaves out of the garage.

Since our son and daughter-in-law are both medical professionals with essential jobs, they will continue to work during the lock-down here in the Kansas City area.  During this pandemic, they never know what virus is walking into their exam rooms. So even though we are isolating at home, we don't know what virus is coming home with them from work. We are "sheltering in place," so we can keep Carter on the two days each week that she usually goes to day care.

We love our assignment of playing with our 22-month-old granddaughter all day long. Gram brought a whole bag of games and stories to read.

Just as Denisa loves God's wonders that we find on the beaches, Carter seems to like them too.

We brought sea shells we picked up all along the Gulf coast, and it was fun discovering new pretty shells with Gram.

We're a little early for Easter eggs, but it's never too early to hunt sea shells. We hid them around the yard over and over.

Carter goes to bed around 7:00 each evening, and that gives the adults time to play games. We played card games like spades and cribbage. They own some of the best new board games like "Welcome to . . " and Quacks of Quedlinburg, and Carcassonne . . . We also tried a new board game, "Exit" that is an escape room experience in a box. We're proud to say that the four of us did escape the abandoned cabin in the game. One of the most interesting evenings was when we played the "Pandemic" game. On the box, it asks, "Can you save humanity?"

All the players work together to knock out a disease pandemic that is sweeping across the globe. Even though the pandemic bubbled up in Asia, and threatened North America, you'll be happy to know that the four of us beat the pandemic game and made the world safe once again! Whew! That was a close one!

Between saving humanity from the pandemic and introducing Carter to God's wonders like sea shells, we've had a great time visiting our very loved ones!
