I am catching up on blog posts, and I wanted to remember a wonderful Christmas holiday! We decorated our apartment with the decorations we had saved for the motor home, and splurged (99 cents) on a 6-inch silver glitter Christmas tree that we weighted down with four of our favorite ornaments. It looked like a Charlie Brown tree (without the single red ball and with lots of glitter). Okay, it looked nothing like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
We had a nice long break from work, and we had plans for every day. One highlight had to be the ski trip with our son Luke and his bride Jordan and her family.
Sharing a condo and the slopes was a great way to get to know our new in-laws, and we had an awesome time! The snow hadn't found New Mexico yet, so many of the runs weren't open. But we skied both Angel Fire and Red River, and we got to experience night skiing for the first time.
By the time we got back to Oklahoma, our son Blake was off work. He joined us for more family time and the church Christmas eve service. Since this was the first year to have a married son, we were prepared to share Luke and Jordan with her family on Christmas Day. But we were so honored to get to see them the entire day because we spent it at Jordan's parents' beautiful home. Instead of spending the day in the kitchen, we opted for homemade pizza for Christmas dinner. Great time and more awesome memories!
We had planned to spend the 26th with Denisa's two sisters and both their families. But when we were ten minutes from the party we got the dreaded call--Beth was running a fever of 102 and Max was still coughing. We rescheduled the party to another location, and the non-feverish relatives still got together for the evening.
We spent the 27th and 28th in the panhandle with Mark's family. Jordan was immersed in an Engelman pitch tournament, and even spent some time at the head table. We were only there around 24 hours, and I think we spent 20 of those playing games. In following the theme of unusual Christmas cuisine, we brought all the ingredients and baked bierox for dinner for the whole family.
In the middle of all that family fellowship, we pause to remember that the birth of God's son is the reason for all this celebration! It certainly was a Merry Christmas!
