We planned our loop back to Oklahoma this year in order to
attend our oldest son’s graduation from medical school. After a very wet May, we had absolutely
perfect weather for the day of graduation with temperatures in the 70’s and no
wind. We had a full row of relatives
there to attend commencement and we were so proud of Dr. Luke Engelman when he
was on stage to be hooded for his M.D. degree!
We took lots of pictures afterwards, including this one that
is a potential family Christmas card picture.
It includes both of our sons and our daughter-in-law Jordan.
The day culminated in a graduation party hosted at Jordan’s
parents’ home on the lake. We had
grilled hamburgers for the 60 friends and family that came to wish Luke
well. Denisa took lots of pictures, but just
like she has a weakness for flowers, she also really likes children. Most of the pictures seemed to include one or
more of our great nieces and nephews that were at the party.
We had games to play on the lawn, and the children enjoyed
the dress up options at the photo booth.
Taking pictures of the children at the party seems appropriate, since Luke will be starting his residency in Pediatrics next month. Besides food and games, there were also places to relax during the party.
The party started at 5:00, and was still going strong after
dark. We guess those wild and crazy
doctors are used to studying until all hours of the night, and they were playing
games until midnight. I think a good
time was had by all!
But more important,
we got a text from Luke the next day thanking us for helping with the
party. He said, “It was a great
day. Best I have had in a long
time.” It was pretty darn good for a
couple of proud parents as well!
